French

French piano music of the 18th and early 20th centuries is the quintessential French music!!! The great composers Couperin and Rameau were seemingly ahead of their time in the 18th century. Debussy and Ravel”s music became the cornerstones of the 20th c. repertoire. I adore French music and moved to France for 8 years when I was 26 to study music and absorb the culture.

These selections are some of my favorites from the French repertoire and represent different flavors of Baroque, Neoclassical and Neo-Baroque style.

The Art of Dance

The Art of Dance is a voyage through time and place exploring dance music of various centuries and cultures. From a Bach French Suite to selected Spanish Dances of Albeniz, this compilation will have you moving. The dance suite as a musical form offers sets of shorter pieces related through thematic material and covers the full spectrum of dances, from languorous to fast paced and animated. The Bach French Suites for example were never intended to be danced, but adhere to stylistic aspects of Baroque dance developed in the court of Louis XIV. The other sets represent various cultural influences on this particular form as well as its evolution.
